British Bake off... or something like that

I have a huge love for scones, plains scones, scones with cheese, scones with chocolate chips and scones with whipped cream and strawberries - YUM!

Yesterday after work, I had a craving for chocolate chip scones! So, I decided to make my own using my very simple recipe. 

Roxanne's chocolate chip scones 

Ingredients | 

3 cups of Self raising flour
2 tbsp of Baking powder
1/2 bag of dark chocolate chips
1 large egg
50g butter
4 tbsp of sugar (Caster sugar if you have it)
pinch of salt

Method | 
  1. Preheat oven to 230°C conventional (or 210°C fan-forced). Line a baking tray with baking paper and set aside or do what I did and separate the scones using a large muffin tray.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and icing sugar together.
  3. Stir in egg, milk and butter and then chocolate chips.
  4. Turn out onto a floured board and leave to rest for 20 mins.
  5. Separate dough into equal sections or spoon into muffin cases.
  6. Brush tops of scones with milk.
  7. Bake for 15 mins until slightly golden brown on the top.
The do look like muffins because of how I have chosen to display them, but I assure you they taste like scones!  Enjoy xoxo
