The benefits of attending university

University isn't for everyone. With the latest financial increase of student fees, I am not surprised that students are really considering another pathway to their goal. The increase in fees is such a hindrance for students today! As a university graduate, I thought I would offer my advice and share with you the 7 benefits of attending university. Now, I cannot lie. If the student fees were £9,000 a year when I was planning on going to university I am not 100% sure whether I would go. I am currently paying off my student debt and even though I am paying a much lower fee, it is still a large sum of money to be in debt with. My monthly payments make me want to cry every month but that's a decision I chose to make.

Caribou makeup brushes

I have been saying for ages that I am in need of some new makeup brushes. After my recent eBay purchase of makeup brushes that have decided to fall a part, I realised it was time to invest in some good quality brushes.

So after speaking with the fabulous people at Caribou Cosmetics, I decided to purchase my brushes from them. The brushes were originally £220 but are now on sale for £79 which is a great discount.

I wanted to share my unboxing and first impressions with you all. So, I decided to record a video for you. Head over to my
YouTube channel to check that out.

Caribou pride themselves on the longevity of their brushes and I must say when I saw them, they are very pretty and the brush hairs felt very soft and well produced. The leather case is a great addition and keeps the brushes neat and tidy.

I haven't used them yet, so I cannot 100% say whether they are great quality, but I will review them in a few days after I have got my use out of them. If you want to see what brushes are available go to www.cariboucosmetics.co.uk or tweet them - they have excellent customer service.

*This is not a sponsored post! I purchased these brushes myself.

If I were 18 again

I was 18 years old SEVEN years ago! *sitting here crying* Time goes by so quickly, but the memories I made are still with me. I was speaking with one of my favourite people in the world and she said, "imagine what it would be like to be 18 again" the thought actually stuck with me and got me thinking.

If I could offer advice to my 18 year old self, there are so many things that I would say.

So, I can scroll through my Facebook and look at all the cringe worthy pictures of myself attempting to look.. well cool!

It is crazy how much you can change.. yes yes, I am older and my looks have matured and well as much as I don't like to admit it I have filled out.. ahh I sound like my mum.

It isn't just my looks that have changed. My whole perception of life has too. It is almost laughable now, when I look back and think WHAT ON EARTH WAS I THINKING! Do we all have those moments?

Being 18 today, is a lot different to being 18 in 2008! Young people, they don't act young any more. They have more options and ideas and they are so much more advanced! I almost envy them.

So, what would 25 year old me, tell my 18 year old self?

THE MAIN THINGS

1. SAVE
Yes, shoes, bags, clothes and all those pretty things are fantastic now. But not having any money saved is the biggest mistake you will make. Keep Ross from friends in your mind "save 10% of your salary" you will be so much better off and that idea will stick with you.

2. BOYS
That boy you thought you were in love with.. ahh he sucked and well when you turn 23 you will meet the most amazing person, move in together and build a life! So, those months that you spent depressed because you thought that ass hole broke your heart.. you will get over it. It wasn't even love anyway! TRUST ME!

3. TRAVEL!
Make plans to travel and experience the world! Go to America like you always dreamt of and stock up on Jolly Ranchers! Because you live once, make plans while you're young and stop being too chicken to pursue them!

4. OH GOD WHAT ARE YOU WEARING!
Honestly, that over sized..rather ugly belt is embarrassing! You don't have to wear it with EVERY outfit!

6. BODY HANGUPS
You thought you needed to lose weight! Honey, wait until you're 25! You will be wishing you had those slender arms still! *Don't worry.. you only go up a dress size* You need to appreciate your body more! Learn to love who you are!

7. FRIENDS
You will lose contact with some of the people you call best friends! And no, it isn't anything that you have done. It is just the way of life, you drift apart and you lose contact. Don't worry, you will meet some amazing people and the ones you saw as extra additions to your family are still around!

8. BLOG!
I know you have already thought about this, you have considered starting a blog but got too pre-occupied with god knows what else! But do it! You will love it even when you're 25!

9. TAKE LOTS OF FAMILY PICTURES!!
You will lose loved ones and you will be hunting for memories you wish you put on film! Take lots of pictures and appreciate your family more! They will always be there..

And finally...

10. CAREER
Really consider what you want to do.. you always loved to sing, but was never brave enough to pursue it! You wanted to act because you wanted to be in Harry Potter but you never did! Choose a career you will LOVE! Don't just conform because you think you have to. Do it because you want to.

Those are just a few things that I would advise my 18 year old self!

Never have regrets.. learn from your mistakes and don't let anyone make you feel less than you're are truly worth!

Charlotte Tilbury competition prize

I was so excited when I found out that I had been chosen as one of the winners of the latest Charlotte Tilbury competition! I absolutely LOVE her and of course her product range is to die for. I entered her latest competition, of course you never expect to win because there are so many amazing entries and I am sure it is so difficult to choose the winners of this type of competition.

*Basically, you had to upload a picture of yourself 'selfie' with your statement lipstick on. You then @ tag Charlotte Tilbury and use the hashtag #CTLipMagic

Today my prize came in the post and I was so excited that I immediately filmed a video for you guys to reveal what I won.

THE VIDEO

I feel so fortunate to have been chosen and I cannot wait to use the lipstick and balm. I wanted to say a BIG thank you to Charlotte Tilbury, I am so so happy!

QUICK FIRST LOOKS REVIEW: The gold packaging is just incredible, it really provides that classy luxurious feel and I am just so impressed with them. The lip balm doesn't smell of anything just a normal lip balm scent. The lipstick is stunning, it has a very good pigment and is such a gorgeous colour! Perfect for spring/summer.

I will definitely review these products for you and let you know my thoughts in more detail.

Thanks for reading!

Life of the unemployed - top tips on getting a job

It's a popular topic today, life of the unemployed and the hardships that they face. Especially young people. After reading an interesting article on the BBC website, it reminded me of the time when I was unemployed. After leaving university, I had nothing to fall back on.

MUA surprise gift

Today I came home from work and found a parcel addressed to me. I hadn't ordered anything so you can imagine how confused I was. When I opened it I found a gift bag with my name on it from MUA.

I remember a few weeks ago I received an invitation to MUA's upcoming garden party event. I couldn't make it as I was working but left my address because they said they may be able to send me a sample of their new products. I never in my wildest dreams thought that they would send me what they did and I am so grateful to them.

So, I decided to share with you what they gifted to me.

PRODUCTS
MUA Translucent Pressed Powder
MUA Pout Prime Smoothing Lip Primer
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet - ChiChi
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet - Rococo
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet - Hedonic
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet - Ritzy
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet - Spry

The colours of the lip-glosses are gorgeous, perfect for the spring/summer. The pout primer is a great idea and hopefully will keep both lipsticks and lip-glosses on. I am not 100% sure I will use the pressed powder but I will certainly try it and let you all know my thoughts.

Thank you MUA for thinking of me! I really do appreciate the products and I will make sure I get my uses out of each and every one of them!

Rosie Lush gift box

Gary surprised me on his way home today with this adorable Lush gift box. He said 'I was going to give it to you for Valentines Day, but I couldn't wait' which was so wonderful and sweet! Bless him.

There are certain scents that I love at Lush, which are there vanilla undertones and Shea butter smells. So, it was quite a surprise when Gary chose this particular box for me which are more floral scents.

The first thing I thought when he gave me this was, wow what beautiful wrapping! I really have to compliment Lush on the care taken to wrap their present boxes. They are beautiful. The next thing was how gorgeous the smell was. It isn't the scented products I would have chosen, so it's nice to try luxury bath products that are different.
When I opened the box I was amazed at how much was packaged within it. This particular box is dedicated to Valentines Day which is why they are rose scented bath and body products. The colours were simple and beautiful and all the smells complimented each other.
PRODUCTS
Rose Jam Shower Gel
Rose Jam Bubbleroon Bubble Bar
Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
Amandopondo Bubble Bar
Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb

The Ro's Argan Body Conditioner smells incredible, I cannot wait to try this. The Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb is Gary's favourite out of the lot, he said it smells beautiful. I am really excited to try everything to be honest, it's going to be great to see which ones I will want to buy again and which products I don't feel are right for me.

I will of course let you know when I have used them all.. so watch this space.

February Glossybox unwrapped 2015

Today my monthly subscription beauty box arrived in the post. After trying to be more thrifty with money and everyday life, this now my only subscription box.

The reason why I chose to keep Glossybox is because 1) I always love and appreciate what is sent to me. 2) I still believe in treating myself even if I am being thrifty. And finally 3) I love the concept of Glossybox, they always offer me something new and I have never received a product that I already own.

This month I wanted to start doing something different and produce a Glossybox unwrapped video for you guys. Usually, I just write a blog post, but I thought you all might like to see the items in an actual video and maybe I can swatch a few of the products for you also.

London Fashion Weekend

I have always LOVED London Fashion Week. I rarely get the chance to attend, but this year I decided to make the effort and go! I can honestly say, I am not very fashionable.. I don't wear designer clothes because the honest fact, I cannot afford them. I have my own style and I know what I like. However, I just LOVE the environment and the catwalk shows. It's a really great buzz and anyone interested in beauty and fashion, it's an awesome event to attend.

I spent £50 for the Gold Ticket which allows me to gain access to one trend show and one designer show. I would have purchased the luxe ticket but it cost £135 which is way out of my price range. I have decided to create a series of posts covering my time at London Fashion Week 2015. I am really excited to share this experience with you.

PART ONE: Receiving my ticket

My tickets have finally arrived! I say finally, but they arrived pretty quickly. There is a separate ticket for each show and also a free designer tote bag!

Next post.. London Fashion Weekend 2015 | PART TWO - What I am going to wear

10 tips to start blogging

There are so many bloggers in this day and age. (Yes I know that makes me sound like I am ancient). All different, all with a purpose and all that want to share their thoughts, ideas and lifestyle with you.

If you have been thinking of starting a blog but don't know where to start I thought I would share some of my blogging wisdom with you. I say wisdom, because I have been blogging for many years now and really enjoy what I do. But that isn't to say I am successful from blogging and if you want to blog just to make money you really do not have the right frame of mind.

Blogging takes time, effort, creative ideas, a story and dedication. I blog as frequent as I can and I love sharing ideas and plans with you all. But I do not make a penny from my blogs or videos. I use what I have and I work for what I have got.

So here are my top tips if you're serious about blogging.

HAVE AN IDEA
Why do you want to blog? What made you start wanting to blog? Write all your ideas down before you start and think about where you want your blog to go.

COMMIT TO IT
Blogging takes dedication, especially if this is something you want to do on a long term basis. Write regular posts, keep your readers engaged and put a lot of thought into it.

BE REALISTIC
Don't start blogging if you want to make loads of money out of it! Realistically this happens to a rare few and they are extremely lucky and dedicated! Start blogging because you have love for your passion and what you write about.

LOVE WHAT YOU WRITE
There is nothing worse than a poor blog post, don't just write for the sake of it. Write about what you enjoy and what you want to do with your life!

RESEARCH INTO OTHER BLOGGERS AND IDEAS
Find out what other people write about, their style of posts and what makes their audience so engaged.

LEARN FROM THE BEST - MAGAZINES, BLOGGERS, TV, BOOKS
Read magazines and books and get an idea of styles of writing and beauty in all things.

SET GOALS
What do you want to achieve? Set standards and goals for yourself!

WRITE ABOUT THINGS YOU'RE REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT
What do you love? What are you passionate about? Write about it! Live what you write. Get lost in it.

LINK IT TO YOUR SOCIAL CHANNELS
If you want to share what you have written with friends, why not share your blog post on your social channels! Start building your readership. It is easier to have family and friends around to offer you support. You never know, they might inspire a post or two.

PROOF READ PROOF READ PROOF READ
Make sure you proof read your posts so they make sense. You do not have to be a perfect speller or the best at grammar but make sure you use spell check or get a friend to go over it for you.

I hope this helps you if you start blogging! I wish you all the luck in the world if you do.

10 tips to get more done

My to-do list of all the tasks that I want to get done throughout the day seems to get longer rather than shorter as the day goes on. Maybe I bite off more than I can chew.. or my personal favourite 'I am a creative mind, producing endless ideas and possibilities' or something along those lines.

I have always been this way. I think of new ideas and have to see them through, so they are added to my 'to-do list'. To be more productive, I needed to come up with a plan. I decided to find ways of getting more things done in the day. Which of course, I wanted to share with you all.. how kind of me.

So here is my 10 TIPS ON GETTING MORE THINGS DONE...

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation

I recently tried the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation in 7 medium. Now, I have heard rave reviews regarding Charlotte Tilbury products and I am a huge fan of her work.
I haven't actually bought the bottle of foundation, I tried the product from sachet samples that was kindly sent in the post. I really wanted to try the foundation first before I spent £32 on the actual bottle. (There is nothing worse than spending money on a product that ends up being rubbish or terrible on your skin)

I decided to try out a makeup look using the sample that I was given. My initial thoughts were that the foundation seemed rather dewy on my skin, this was from placing it on the back of my hand. When first applying it to my face I was unsure as it was quite wet and my foundation brush didn't seem to want to blend it well. After ditching the foundation brush and using my fingers I managed to blend it better and it really worked well. I have been meaning to buy another foundation brush and after trialling this foundation I have finally decided to invest in one.

Once the foundation was blended in, it was extremely light and provided a fantastic coverage.

I immediately felt the difference on my skin, it was hydrated and light. I have combination skin and suffer from dry patches and oily areas on my face. Light Wonder provided excellent coverage and I thought the colour itself was a perfect match for my skin tone. Usually when I apply foundation I always feel like I have so much makeup on as I do not wear it every day. With Light Wonder it really does feel like your skin, I didn't feel any different but it looked fantastic. Any blemishes were covered and it was perfectly seamless.

One of my worse fears about foundation is that it blocks your pores and usually brings me out in a spot or two. This usually happens with the majority of foundations that I use which is why I really pick and choose when I wear foundation. However, Light Wonder seems perfect, it doesn't bring me out in spots, it really brightens my skin and my face this morning was smooth and hydrated.

It will be the perfect foundation all year round. It has SPF 15 coverage from UV damage and offers up to 18 hours hydration. (I had the foundation on for 9 hours yesterday and it was still going strong through my work day)
I would usually have something negative to say, as no product is perfect but I really do not have anything bad to say about this. One thing I would mention is that it took me forever to remove the foundation, which is great for wearing all day but I would suggest buying a good quality makeup remover as you will need it. Other than that, it is really exceptional and definitely worth the money. I will be adding this to my shopping list at the end of February.
I hope you enjoyed this review! Thank you for reading.

10 Reasons To Love February

February is a beautiful time of year, with the lead up to spring there are so many things to look forward to.

Here are my 10 reasons to love February, some of these are personal favourites but I thought I would share those with you also..

  1. It's the shortest month of the year, which means payday comes quicker! Always a bonus.
  2. Valentines Day! Okay, so usually I don't think much of valentines day, it's a day where people spend a ridiculous amount of money to show why they love their partner. Me and Gary show our love everyday. On valentines we celebrate on a budget, we do not buy presents and we cook. It's a cheap way but romantic.
  3. Pancake day - Possibly the best day of the year, well one of them! I love pancakes with strawberries and chocolate! Delicious.
  4. Fashion week starts! The fashion fix of they year
  5. Valentines Day chocolate is on offer after valentines day!
  6. It's still cold enough to wear boots.
  7. It's the best time of year to start planning your summer holiday!
  8. Walking Dead restarts again!
  9. Chocolate strawberries are available in shops. (So delicious)
  10. My dads birthday month. This is more a personal favourite. My dad is one of the best people in the world in my opinion, so finding him something he will love for his birthday is just awesome.
What do you have planned this February?
