In pursuit of happiness

You've probably looked at the title of this blog and thought what a load of old fluff... Am I right?

When I typed those words, I honestly thought what on earth have I just written, but when you read this blog, you will realise that those are the best words to describe what I am in search of and attempting to share with you today.

Personal posts are not my strong suit. 70% of the time, I find it hard to articulate exactly what I mean on camera and in words. My brain tends to go a million miles per hour and my fingers cannot type fast enough. By the time I do, the thought has left my mind and vanished along with every other thought.

Today, I wanted to talk about my ambition to find true happiness. I'm not sure if it's even possible but I have found that the older I get, the less I want to please others and the more I want to please myself. Those words in writing sound so selfish, but I find that we are so eager to please others and gain their acceptance that we lose out on what we actually want.

I'm a firm believer that you make your own happiness. You cannot genuinely be happy until you learn what makes you happy. There's no one thing that can achieve this for you. I think it's a combination of things that can truly make you feel happy.

This is why I started on my journey in pursuit of happiness. I started to write a list of things I want to do, what I want to achieve and by when. What I enjoy and what I want to do more of.

I thought I would share a few of these with you today. In no particular order, here are some of the things I want to do that I feel will steer me in the direction of happiness...

Marry my best friend
I was going to write soul mate but that sounded so cheesy that I couldn't do it. However, this is already in action and 3rd November 2018 is the date we say 'I Do'.

Buy a dog
I really love dogs and we were so close to getting one a few months ago until I realised it just wasn't the right time or the right dog for us. I would love an English Bulldog. I just find them the most adorable dogs.

Travel Travel Travel...
Everyone says this, but I have decided to write a list of top 50 holiday destinations I want to visit before I die. This can either be in the UK or abroad. Travelling is good for the soul and broadens your mind to new cultures and ways of life. I want to have these constant adventures before it's too late.

Learn how to Roller Skate
Most kids probably learn this when they are younger, I wasn't as fortunate and it's something I have always wanted to do. I have purchased a pair of cheap Roller Skates to practice in and I'm determined to be able to use them like a pro... or close enough.

Reach the big 100K on YouTube
Will this ever happen? I don't know but I love to think it will one day.

Learn to speak a new language
Being bilingual is such an amazing skill and just broadening my mind to something new is so important. I've decided that French is my language of choice. Bonjour, Salut, Au revoir

100 must read books
This probably sounds bizarre, but I really want to create a 100 must-read books list. I love reading and don't always get the chance or take the time to get lost in a novel. I've decided to create a list which I want complete then pass on to friends/family or even you beauties.

Start a family
Scary or what. Even at 28, I am petrified by the thought of having a baby but I also know that this would be absolutely incredible to have a mini me and Gary. So many of our close friends have little ones and it's just so sweet to see them together as a family.

Make more time for friends and family
Time flies by so quickly that I lose track of days and weeks. I am determined to see more of those I love and make more memories with them.

Buy my dream home
I don't think this needs explaining. But Gary and I will be on the hunt for our dream home soon enough and I honestly cannot wait.

Take a cooking class
Do you ever get bored of making and eating the same things. I really do, but I don't have the skills or knowledge to branch out and try something new - or I'm just too scared to. I've decided that taking a cooking class would be a great way to make some new dishes that taste amazing and that I could share with friends and family too.

Take a baking class
Baking is amazing and I just wish I knew more about it to make more tasty things. Especially when I have children. I would love to give them amazing treats that are homemade and nutritional.

Become more confident in the ocean
I love swimming, I'm just not that great at it, especially in the ocean. I find that I panic a little too much. I am determined to snorkel and be confident doing so.

Learn how to play an instrument
I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano. Potentially one day I will own a grand piano is my dream home... I wish! I would just love to read music and be able to play confidently.

I'm sure so many of these sound blue sky but they are achievable. The great thing is that there isn't really a time limit. These are things that I can work through for the rest of my life. The aim is to continue to find what makes me happy. To try new things constantly and better myself. Life is what you make of it and I am determined to have a happy one.

  1. You will achieve everything you set your mind on. I will be by your side if you need any help or a partner in crime in some of the activities on your list. X

  2. I used to have roller blades as a kid, i loved them. It's so refreshing to read that you're looking to better your life and help others. You are going to achieve amazing things. xx
