Beauty Christmas Advent Calendars 2018

The countdown for Christmas is on. With only a few months to go, it's got me thinking/excited about what advent calendars I would love to buy this year if I could afford to.

After the huge Zoella scandal last year that was the talk of every blogger, vlogger and customer, I think people are more and more aware of what they are spending their money on and conscious of being over sold a product that quite frankly isn't reaching the standard that's expected. And let's be honest, the cost of advent calendars have again increased in price, so not all of these will be affordable for everyone, but I thought I would share with you what I found that I thought you would enjoy as well.

Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette

You may look at this Huda Beauty mini palette and just see a few orangish eyeshadows with little inspiration. I look at this palette and see six different eye looks I could recreate over and over again.
This is the perfect holiday palette and my go-to summer palette for 2018. It's my favourite Huda Beauty palette so far and I think this is perfection for all of my olive skin tone ladies and gents. Within this palette you get nine shadows - two shimmer shades and seven matte shades. The pigmentation is stunning and the depth and warmth you can create is fantastic.

The best face oil ever

I'm a little late jumping on the Tarte Cosmetics Maracuja Oil bandwagon, but let me tell you, my skins never looked so good.

I'm not really one to hop on the latest trends, it's just not a done thing for me and well my bank account wouldn't allow it anyway. So I may be 2 years late to the party for this one, however I still feel the need to rave about my new found love.

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick

When a product has been hyped up so much, I cannot help myself, I just have to try it. Makeup Revolution only went and dropped a full coverage foundation, so the one question on everyone's mind is - how does it compare to their conceal and define concealer?

So how does it compare? Well, it's pretty amazing actually. If you're looking for an affordable, full coverage foundation then this is the one for you.

It's super easy to apply, feels smooth on the skin and works well with the conceal and define concealer. It lasted around 5 hours before my t-zone started to get a little oily. However, the coverage is actually incredible. I wanted to test it properly, so decided to use the foundation to cover up my tattoo.

The one negative thing I did find is that it accentuated my pores which weren't great. But I believe that with the right primer, that could be fixed.

Overall, I really like it. I would definitely recommend this foundation. I don't believe that this isn't the best foundation for someone with oily skin. If you did want to try it, I would suggest using a good baking powder.

I hope this helps! You can watch my review here

#PressforProgress

First of all, what does #PressforProgress even mean? Well, for International Women’s Day, a theme is created that we can collectively get involved in.

Since the Hollywood scandals erupted in the media, gender parity has been more exposed than ever before. Whilst it’s common knowledge that gender equality won’t happen overnight, the movement to push forward and progress for the equal rights of women is more prominent than ever before.

Women around the globe are marching together. We are unified for one cause.
That cause being – US.

International Women’s Day isn’t a day just for feminists. It’s a day for advocacy and support. It’s the one-day where we can really share the successes of women, no matter what age or race etc.

For me, #PressforProgress means knowing where I stand and fighting for where I want to be. As a career driven woman, it’s important for me to strive to be the best I possibly can be, to lead a life I can be proud of and to confidently be heard and know that my opinion is respected.

It’s also about being involved in a movement that’s much bigger than myself, bigger than any person, organisation or country. Bringing people together – not just women, everyone together, collectively to make progress in an initiative that’s been holding women back since the dawn of time.

The more voices heard. The closer we are to succeeding. It would be great to see in my lifetime, a better more equal society for women.

Remember, empowered women, empower other women! Let’s #PressforProgress together.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

I'm all for a natural glow. If I can find a product that helps me achieve that look - I'm loving it forever.
When I think about Charlotte Tilbury, I automatically think high-quality beauty products. There has only ever been 2 or 3 products within her collection that haven't been right for me. So, when I discovered the Hollywood Flawless Filter, I knew it was either going to be a big hit or a major flop. Fortunately, it's a winner for me.

According to the Charlotte Tilbury website, Hollywood Flawless Filter is a revolutionary complexion booster. It's essentially a primer with the glow of a highlighter. Allowing you to create the perfect radiant look.

I personally love any makeup product that enhances my natural look without having to wear foundation. Which is why I decided to purchase this product.

First impressions

The Hollywood Flawless Filter cost me £30 with a £2.95 shipping fee. It took around 8 days to arrive - I think it would have come earlier if the weather was better.

The packaging as always is stunning. Charlotte Tilbury doesn't skimp out on the quality. Everything is sleek and very Hollywood glam, down to the envelope that contains your receipt.

Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation

I love the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer - what beauty blogger doesn't. It's the most raved about concealer ever. So, when I found that Tarte Cosmetics were launching a foundation, I was so so excited!

However, as soon as they launched with only 18 shades, the negativity put me off from buying it for a while. 18 shades is such a limited number, especially when every other brand is creating more than 30 shades. I felt disappointed that the brand neglected to create a product that catered for all skin tones.

It's quite surprising and sad as there are so many customers missing out. Although Tarte has revealed they are releasing more shades, we are yet to see the proof in the pudding.

I'm not one to get pulled into drama, which is why I decided not to be influenced by others opinions. I made the decision to buy the foundation to review it.

Review
The packaging is great. Really easy to apply - the applicator is amazing. It looks like a larger version of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.

In my honest opinion, this is a great foundation. It's the perfect shade for me. Long wearing, easily blend-able and soaks into the skin well. You can create both a light and full coverage look. The foundation is very build-able but not cakey on your skin, providing a seamless natural complexion.

It doesn't work well with the Shape Tape concealer in my opinion, I found that it creased easily underneath my eyes creating an extremely unflattering look. A part from that, I love it and would definitely recommend it. Lets just hope they create more shades.

NYX Cosmetics Worth The Hype Mascara

I am the fussiest person on the planet when it comes to mascaras. I love my natural lashes and I want a mascara that will help to emphasise them. When I received this mascara from Nyx Cosmetics - thank you Nyx - I was super intrigued to find out whether it was actually worth the hype.

Lets face it, so may brands over promise and never deliver. So I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been testing this out for a few weeks now and I have to say, it ticks all the boxes for me.

The applicator is great for combing through my lashes, there's no clumping and it provides a light coverage that you can build on to lift the lashes up.

It's definitely lengthening which is great. It's a seamless application and so comfortable to wear as well. When a mascara is too heavy on my lashes I have a horrible habit of picking it off. I haven't done that with this one - my lashes are thankful.

This has been my go-to mascara for the past two weeks. I just haven't wanted to use another. What's great is that this is only £9 so extremely affordable and well worth the money. I will be purchasing another when this one runs out.

I also love how easy it is to remove. There's nothing worse than a stubborn mascara that leaves you with panda eyes. You know they ones ladies! Urgh.

All in all, I would 100% recommend this product and I hope you find my review useful!

You can find it here.

Stop trying to be like everyone else

One of my affirmations is proudly saying that I am my own person. I am unique.  Not in a big headed way, but in the sense where I am truly myself. No-one is like me because how can they be. Only I can be me.

When I was growing up I had a variety of friends. We were always in competition with each other, even though we would never admit it. We would dress the same, act the same and pretty much do the same things. But we were never actually friends. I didn't know the meaning of true friendship until I was myself. I now surround myself with people who love and accept me for me.

I think this is a common thing when you're a teenager. The need to conform and feel 'normal' or 'cool'. Now, looking back I couldn't have been more wrong. By conforming I lost the greatest thing about myself. ME.

I lost who I was because I thought to fit in, to be seen as cool would be to follow everyone else.

It's a huge failure really. They don't teach you in school or college the importance of loving who you are. They don't compliment uniqueness and individuality.

In fact, I'm not sure I was ever taught these important life skills. The system is failing because relevant knowledge isn't being taught or shared when we are younger. For instance, I think learning how to save money, understanding mental health, appropriate sex education and learning to appreciate yourself would be more relevant and useful then some of the lessons they teach in school.

I came to learn more about myself when I went to university. I realised that I didn't need to be like other people. I'm perfectly fine just as I am.

That doesn't mean that people don't inspire me. I have aspirations and I do look up to people who have made an impact on my life or have achieved something that I too would like to achieve one day. However, I will make my own impact one day but it will be my way.

This enlightenment has changed my mind-set completely. I now understand what drives me, what makes me special and how I can use that to have a positive influence on others and be successful.

The truth is, until you learn who you are, how can anyone really get to know you? How can anyone see your great qualities and awesomeness? They can't.

So stop trying to be like everyone else and just be you.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

You’ve no doubt heard and read so much about the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. It was the talk of the year when it launched, and even now, people are flocking to go and see the play. Myself included in those people.

I purchased my tickets in November 2016. I finally watched the show on 17 January 2018. They were so hard to get – I think I waited in the online queue for 6 hours just to secure the tickets. I purchased them as a surprised for my brother Ryan and I decided to finally surprise him with them this year on his 24th Birthday. Keeping it secret has never been so hard.

On the day:
We arrived into London at 11:45AM the first show wasn’t until 2PM but we had to go and collect the tickets from the box office. We went from London Waterloo so we had to jump on the tube - Northern line to Tottenham Court Road.

It was easy to find, 5 minute walk from the tube station. There is a number of food courts surrounding the theatre so you would never be stuck for options.

We collected our tickets early and then went to grab a bite to eat. We had to be back at the theatre one hour prior to the show starting to be searched by security. They advised on the website that you’re not allowed food or drink but you’re in fact allowed to take sweets and water. We made the mistake of buying in the theatre and it cost a ridiculous amount of money.

Part one:
The first show is 2 hours and 35 minutes. There is a 20 minute interval mid way through and then it's back to the action. I wasn't sure what I was expecting. I can't say I have been to that many theatre productions. I've watched the Harry Potter films hundreds of times and when the production first started I can honestly say I was a little bit taken aback. I think I was expecting more. Of course the show is never going to be the same as the movies and that's definitely something you need to bear in mind. However, after about 10 minutes into the show you can really see the detail and hard work that has gone into creating such an amazing production. It's not as high-tech but there are some real magical moments (pardon the pun).

Part two:
The second part of the show started at 19:30 and lasted 2 hours 30 minutes. It's action packed and full of great surprises. We were sat in the Grand circle and I think for elements of the production, if we were sat closer to the stage we would have been even more excited because there are some amazing things that happen. Although, our view was pretty great.

If you're going to see the show, I would recommend not reading the script. Myself and Ryan have both got the book but haven't read it yet and the surprised in store were so exciting.

Overall, I would definitely recommend seeing the show. I laughed, felt sad and even a little on edge at times. You definitely get all the feels and the cast did an exceptional job.
It's a long day and if you're travelling a long distance, be sure to book a hotel close by because we travelled home late and it was exhausting. I know that there is also an option to watch part two on a different day on part one. This isn't something we wanted to do as travelling into London can be expensive so we chose to watch the entire production in one sitting rather than split the days. Do what's best for you.

Reflection and understanding personal space

I'm not sure if this blog is going to make an ounce of sense but I have felt the urge to write it for the last week. I wanted to discuss the importance of personal space.

The term 'Personal Space' in the dictionary refers to the physical space immediately surrounding someone, into which encroachment can feel threatening or uncomfortable.

Although the general definition discusses physical space, I also think personal space can now take many forms. Not only is it physical - in the sense where it's someone in your face, but it's also digital and for me it's a mental state as well. The reason that I am writing this is because lately, I have been struggling with this issue.

I am a friendly and a somewhat social person. As a YouTuber and Blogger I have allowed myself to be on social platforms where I share certain aspects of my life. Yes, this is a personal choice and for the most part I absolutely love it. However, by doing this, it has opened up the door to people who do not consider the importance of backing off at times or knowing when to give me space.

I think many people struggle with this but cannot formulate the right words to express how they are feeling. Which is also why I wanted to write this piece. To tell you that it's okay.

It's not selfish to want personal time. It's not selfish to want people to leave you alone so you can just have 5 minutes of silence to re-energise. I'm not sure if it's a lack of awareness or understanding but for me people need to learn when enough is enough. When they need to back off and be respectful of someone else and their personal space and you have every right to tell them.

There are times where we all like to be in our own little bubble where we can find peace and reflect. We all need our own time and that's okay.

There are a number of ways I take time to reflect. Whether that's having time to myself or being with Gary. He is like my anchor. He is the only person a part from my dad who can calm me. His presence is just relaxing. I think everyone needs someone like that, who can just make you forget your situation even for 10 minutes to help you to re-balance. I also like to take time away from my phone and people in general. It's not to be rude but it's just to take a break from everything. It really does help.

I rarely get stressed or bothered by these sorts of things, but lately I have. Getting space has helped me to cope and focus. If you're ever feeling like things are getting too much, be sure to reach out to people who you know have got your back. who will help you to get back up and carry on.
